Camp Crosby

With themes like “Camp Olympics” and “Wacky Water Week,” your child will have a fun filled summer at Camp Crosby. A typical camp day for your child might include a morning arts
and crafts project, followed by a nature trail walk with a discussion on the environment, and a swim in the pool. After lunch under the pavilion or at their “tribe site,” the group might have an hour of field games, an afternoon swim, and some quiet group play time.

Kiddie Camp

Also run out of our Bristol location, Kiddie Campers ages 5 & 6 have a more structured day than our older members. The activities created for our young campers are based on the “Theme of the Week.” Arts and crafts, educational programs, and special events are tailored to be age-appropriate and based on the unique and fun theme week! Kiddie Campers also enjoy daily pool time and nature walks through the woods and to the shores of the Mount Hope Bay.

What are the ages for Camp Crosby and Kiddie Camp?

Camp Crosby is for children 5 – 13.  Kiddie Camp is for children age 5 & 6.  We do accept children that are 4 years old if they will be entering Kindergarten in September. These ages are as of July 1st, so if you child turns 7 on July 2nd they will be in Kiddie Camp. If your child turns 14 prior to July 1st, they will be unable to attend Camp Crosby.

Can I drop off/pick up my child at camp myself?

Yes!  All parents who would like to drop off or pick up their child at camp must check in at the office. Camp opens for drop offs at 9:00am and closes at 3:30pm. Any child not picked up by 3:30pm will be sent on the bus to the Boys and Girls Club of East Providence 115 Williams Ave, East Providence RI.

What if my child misses the bus?

Buses depart for Camp Crosby at 8:00am.  If your child misses the bus, you will be responsible for transporting your child to Camp Crosby. No child can be left at the Boys and Girls Club after buses leave.

If my child has a doctor’s appointment can they stay at the Boys and Girls Club?

No. All children must go to Camp Crosby and be picked up from there if they need to leave early for a doctor’s appointment.

Do I have to sign my child up for the entire summer?

No.  You can sign your child up for just the weeks you want them to attend.  We know that flexibility is important to our families, so if you are planning a family vacation or your child is going to another camp for a week, you do not have to sign them up for that week.

What if I only want to send my child for a few days a week?

You may send your child as many days during the week as you choose, however, the fees are weekly fees. No discount is given if a child does not show up for any day during the week.

What if I register for a week but my child does not attend camp?

If the child is ill and has a doctor’s note stating they are unable to attend camp, we will happily reimburse you or remove the charge for that week. However, if there is no illness or no doctor’s note is provided, you will be responsible for all weeks you have registered for. If you would like to cancel a week’s registration you must do so in writing at the main office by Wednesday prior to the week are withdrawing them from.

Is there a discount for sending multiple children to Camp?

Yes. Families who have multiple children attending camp will pay the full rate for the first child and all other children will be discounted $5 per week.

Does the staff put sunblock on for my child?

Staff will help children put sunblock on their backs before going swimming, if the child requests help. Staff are instructed to remind children to put sunblock on throughout the day, however, it is ultimately your child’s responsibility to put sunblock on.

Are there snacks available at Camp for my child to purchase?

Camp Crosby has a trading post available on Fridays only. Items available for purchase at the Camp Crosby Trading Post include bottled water, juice boxes, Gatorade, chips and candy. See the Camp Crosby parent handbook for more details about the Trading Post.

Do you accept Child Care Assistance from the State of Rhode Island Department of Human Services (DHS)?

Yes. You must provide a valid certificate number from DHS at the time of registration. For more information, please see our Parent Handbook or contact Martin DeCosta at
